Unmaking the Hedge
Stand at the edge of the space, placing both feet firmly on the ground if possible. Take a slow breath and speak:
The hedge is high, the path is wide,
But now I bid the thorns subside.
By branch and root, by blood and bone,
I send the wandering spirits home.
Extend the index and middle finger of your dominant hand. With deliberate motions, trace the boundary of the hedge in reverse, imagining the thorns withdrawing, the vines unraveling, and the gateway dissolving. Feel the boundary thinning, the energy loosening, the path fading from sight. Once the hedge is undone, walk the space counterclockwise, retracing your steps. As you do, speak:
I walk the path, I turn the key,
By will and word, now set spirits free.
Where once stood root, now empty ground,
Where once was gate, now none be found.
Pause in the center of the space, grounding yourself. Stamp your foot or press your palm to the ground, feeling the last remnants of the hedge sinking away. Then, in a final act of closure, whisper:
The way is shut, the path unwound,
By thorn and shadow, by root and sound.
Go now in peace, go now unseen,
The hedge is gone, the road is clean.
